Biography
Ratpack Swing Band London
Swing Connection is one of the busiest and most versatile swing bands in London and the UK. Along with performing at many weddings and parties in the UK each year, the band are so highly regarded that they were recently flown out to New York, USA, to perform at a private party on Broadway! The swing band is fronted by one of the finest male jazz vocalists on the scene today and is backed by an outstanding rhythm section who never fail to the get the room swinging. The optimum ‘big band’ sound comes with the 8-piece band featuring a 4-piece brass section, but the band is equally at home performing functions as a 4 or 5-piece swing combo without a brass section. Female vocals and guitar are recommended optional extras if you require soul/party repertoire to be included at your event. A selection of soul/pop repertoire can be incorporated into the band’s sets, if required, by choosing to 'mix-and-match' with some of our FUNKification or Amberstar musicians. The band is formed from some of the most in-demand professional jazz musicians in the UK today. The musicians have collectively performed with some of the biggest names in jazz and swing (The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, The BBC Big Band, John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Buddy Greco, Jools Holland, Jamie Cullum, Michael Garrick, Gerard Presencer, Guy Barker) and at some of the most prestigious venues (Ronnie Scott’s, The 606 Club, The Jazz Cafe, The Royal Albert Hall). This ensures that you have the most versatile and professional musicians possible at your wedding, providing an outstanding live swing band performance that can’t be rivalled! Our musicians are primarily based in London but we also have musicians based around the UK (Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Bath, Brighton) to enable an outstanding wedding swing band to be provided no matter where your event is being held.

Swing Connection has many audio tracks on the media player, recorded both with and without brass section so that you can hear for yourself exactly what we do. There are many live swing band recordings too, taken straight from the mixing desk at weddings in London and corporate events in the UK so you can hear EXACTLY what the band sounds like. If you are still not convinced then we can add you to the guest list for one of our live public events or even get permission to give you access to another wedding performance (subject to client approval). We want to give you every opportunity to truly understand how professional and versatile we are!

Swing Connection has a great selection of jump jive and swing dance songs available if you are looking for something a little more energetic from your wedding band! A selection of tracks from great swing artists such as Louis Prima, Louis Jordan, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy can be included alongside the Ratpack repertoire to really get your wedding or event jumping!
Background jazz for drinks receptions or wedding breakfast
All of our musicians are extremely talented jazz musicians and hence we can also provide a live instrumental jazz band for your drinks reception or wedding breakfast. We would use musicians from the main swing band rather than bringing in a separate group of musicians. This is much cheaper than hiring a jazz band separately as our wedding musicians will already be at your event. 1940s / 1950s / Wartime / Blitz theme
Swing Connection has a great selection of instrumental swing music which can be included to create a wartime, London 'Blitz' or 'big band era' feel at your wedding or event. This would include tracks such as American Patrol, In The Mood, Tuxedo Junction and many other Glenn Miller and big band classic swing tunes. Please see the repertoire list for more information. Please note that this instrumental option is only available with the 8-piece band as the ‘big band’ sound is needed to accurately perform these arrangements.
Full 17-piece 'Big Band'
If your wedding or event requires the ultimate Ratpack Swing Band then you could consider the Swing Connection Big Band. This would comprise the classic big band line-up of 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, double bass and drums, all topped off by an outstanding vocalist. This size of band may be too large for most events but if you are looking for the ultimate in big band swing then this would be the perfect option. Please contact us for more information .
Alternative Live Music for Weddings and Corporate Events
If you are looking for something other than a swing/Ratpack/jazz band for your wedding or function then maybe one of our other function bands would suit your event better. After all, most of our musicians perform with most of our bands so you can "mix and match" any of our bands with each other to create your own bespoke package. In addition to function party bands we also have a jazz/swing band, a vocal/guitar acoustic duo, a Strolling Dixieland trad jazz band, an 'a cappella' vocal group, a marching brass funk band, a classical string quartet/duo and even a selection of wedding DJs!
